A rite without belief, for things that do not last.
Carmina Escobar is an extreme vocalist, improviser, composer, educator, and intermedia artist. Her practice focuses on sound, the voice, and the body, and their interrelations with physical, social, present, and memory spaces.
Ron Athey has been at the vanguard of performance art for 25 years, with work whose physical intensity confronts preconceived ideas about the body in relation to masculinity and religious iconography.
Oguri, dancer and choreographer, has for the last 30 years created movement and multimedia works — incorporating his own large-scale set/sculpture installations and dramatic, chiaroscuro lighting — that investigate the relationship of dance to environment and the boundaries between performer and audience.
