Swap Meet
One Year Anniversary + A Birthday + A Birthday
Saturday, May 6
9pm until midnight
Free
This month we celebrate our first anniversary. We also celebrate the birthday of Betalevel’s own Mathew Timmons. And, as if that wasn’t enough, we also celebrate the birthday of our friend Ms. Helen Cahng.
Yes, there will be almost too much celebrating to go around. And, to help us celebrate, we have decided there will be a theme. Actually, we’ve decided there will be THREE themes: May ’68 (because it’s May), zombies (because who doesn’t love zombies?), and the Care Bears (because, well, they’re bears that care). We’ll do a little decorating and bring the cupcakes; you think about costumes (not required, but definitely encouraged) and practice your Care Bear Stare.
Additionally, we’re happy to announce that Mr. Benjamin Miller, the recipient of the first Betalevel Residency Scholarship, will be coming down from Seattle as our very special guest vocalist.
About Swap Meet
You won’t be able to grab the entire Led Zep discography at Swap Meet and be on your way — that?s what what the Department of Defense invented the Internet for.
Swap Meet is a place for you to come with a special selection of your very most bestest, most favoritest music so you can trade it with other actual human people for the special music that you?ve always wanted but didn?t know existed. It?s like social software, but replacing “software” with “beer.”
And then we sing!
Bring:
- Your singin’ voice & dancin’ shoes
- a flash drive / CD / MP3 player / laptop containing your favorite files
- Dr1NkZ n Sn4¢Kz
- An inner sense of joy in the face of our eroding cultural freedoms
Here’s the house karaoke list, so you can prepare yourself. If something you’d like to sing is not on the list, you are welcome — nay, encouraged! — to bring your own hand-crafted .KAR files. They’re MIDI-tastic!
Swap Meet is presented by Superbunker and The Royal Academy of Nuts + Bolts.
