A Conversation with Malcolm Margolin and Jon Christensen
Thursday, February 12th at 8pm
Defying rumors that print media is dead or dying, the quarterly magazine Boom: A Journal of California, and the book publisher Heyday have established offices in Los Angeles. Join Jon Christensen, editor of Boom, and Malcolm Margolin, founder and publisher of Heyday, for a spirited, rambling, sure-to-be-enlightening conversation about what they see growing out of the cultural soil of L.A., and get a taste of the crops they are harvesting.
Conversation: like, i dunno… 8:30ish?
Later: hanging out
If sitting is important: Come early
Boom: A Journal of California a quarterly published by UC Press, aims to host one of the smartest, liveliest dinner party conversations in California every season, in the magazine, online, in social media, in other media, and in events. The voices of Boom are the voices we hear when scholars, journalists, writers, artists, thinkers and doers loosen up after hours while remaining as sharp as ever and inspiring each other to higher levels. This is the sound of scholars speaking plainly among intelligent friends outside the academy, journalists rising above what usually gets into print, and writers and artists inspiring them to connect creatively.
Heyday is an independent, nonprofit publisher and unique cultural institution. We promote widespread awareness and celebration of California’s many cultures, landscapes, and boundary-breaking ideas. Through our well-crafted books, public events, and innovative outreach programs we are building a vibrant community of readers, writers, and thinkers.
