Nicole Antebi will talk about some of the early twentieth century Folly Gardens of Northern California and the role they played in the Hetch Hetchy water wars. Followed by a screening of her new animation on the same topic, with live music by David Eng.


Laura Bliss

“Circadian Nights”

Laura Bliss will share collected tales of plant genetics, Linnaeus’s flower clock, and the season of all natures.


Amar Ravva

“New World Orchids”

Amar Ravva will discuss Orientalism, orchids whose bulbs are so juicy that travelers would chew on them to relieve their thirst, and valleys in the Americas where orchids were so abundant their roots joined together like pavement.
